Oman’s geo-strategic location gives significant advantages to the logistics sector. The Sultanate of Oman Logistics Strategy 2040 (SOLS 2040) vision laid out by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said seeks to leverage these advantages to realise the ambition to become a leading global logistics hub. The strategy envisions the use of the latest technologies to drive operational efficiencies and improve the ease of doing business.
KR S&ML is poised to play a key role towards achieving the national ambitions set out by SOLS 2040, by enhancing the Sultanate’s logistics capabilities and expanding the skills base in the sector.

With its strategic location as a gateway on the trading lanes between the Indian subcontinent, the Arabian Gulf region and East Africa, Oman is already at the heart of the ambitious Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in the region. The country has three integrated trans-shipment deep seaports, five state-of-the-art network of airports, some of the region’s best highway infrastructure – and its future national railway network will cover an estimated 2,135 km.
Khimji Ramdas Shipping and Multimodal Logistics (KR S&ML) is a major partner-investor in one of the most transformational projects in Oman – Khazaen Dry Port project. It is the largest and a first-of-its-kind public-private initiative to establish a world-class Logistics City in the strategic heartland of the country.

Nine massive LPG storage tanks for the Duqm Refinery project, each weighing about 780 metric tonnes and measuring 72 metres long, were discharged at Port of Duqm in the beginning of 2020.
The complex operation, carried out by RORO (Roll on-Roll off) module, represented one of the lengthiest and heaviest cargoes ever discharged at the port. The shipment was handled by KR S&ML.

KR S&ML has operations at all major seaports as well as in-land logistics hubs and special economic zones in Oman and UAE. Our operations include some of the largest and most modern facilities in the world, and these port are undergoing continuous development in terms of both capacity and diversity of services.
The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates, today known as Madayn, was established in 1993 to build on the industrial development that began with the establishment of Rusayl Industrial City in 1983. Madayn manages and operates seven industrial cities in Sur, Suhar, Raysut, Nizwa, Buraimi, Rusayl, and Samail, as well as Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) and Al Mazunah Free Zone.
The 45 sqkm Sohar Port and Free Zone is a 50:50 joint venture between the Government of Oman and the Port of Rotterdam. Besides being a key logistics hub, the development also hosts major petrochemical, metals and energy complexes.
The massive 2000 sqkm Duqm Port and Special Economic Zone at Duqm boasts a port, ship dry dock, industrial complex, oil refinery, airport, a frontier township, tourism zone, and a logistics sector.
The 19 sqkm Port of Salalah and Free Zone at Salalah, is home to some of the most advanced logistics and trans-shipment infrastructure in the world. The development also includes a refinery, steel, food processing, solar panel manufacturing, and knowledge industries.
The geographical location of Dubai has given this city the advantage of becoming an international logistics hub. An active airport connecting Europe and Asia, and a seaport strategically located mid-way on the most important shipping routes that link the Indian, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, make Dubai an ideal logistics hub for the world. Fujairah Port, located approximately 70 nautical miles from the Strait of Hormuz, is the world’s second-biggest bunkering hub. It also one of the world’s largest offshore anchorage locations, offering a wide range of Ship Supply and Engineering Services to vessels.
